Petrobras Announces 5% Increase to Diesel Price Effective Wednesday

Dow Jones Newswires -- Brazilian state-run energy giant Petroleo Brasileiro (PBR, PETR4.BR) said Tuesday it will raise the price of its diesel fuel by 5%, starting Wednesday.

The price increase will be made at the refinery and doesn't include the various taxes applied to the fuel, the company said.

The increase was carried out as part of the company's policy of trying to bring prices in line with those of the international market, Petrobras said.

This will effect every one, if you think it won't just because,
U' don't drive you would & are mistakin' you shop, you buy things,
your getin' pinched!!
the trucks that bring these good to the stores you shop at, will in turn pass on the 5% & then some to the stores, and then they, the Stores will
give us the same increase & a little bite more & we the shoppers get
SCREWED in the END again!!!

To mat6149: diesel does not cost less to refine than gasoline, they are products of the same process
Diesel costs more because supply and demand, you get half as much diesel from a barrel of oil as you do gasoline
and while gasoline demand has dropped significantly diesel demand has not dropped near as much
and its not a 20 cent increase pv2004 it is a 5% increase on the wholesale price prior to fuel taxes

Diesel should cost less than gas since it cost less to refine.

Petrobras Announces 5% Increase to Diesel Price Effective Wednesday? Higher prices for diesel? Brazil can do what they want, no effect on US fuel prices. What about all that ethanol they produce from sugar cane?
Drive vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money.
The price of fuel at the pump is too high!
